Hi, I’m Erin L. Palmer

I am a board-certified Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with over 10 years of experience serving underserved communities. Five of those years were spent in the ER setting. Over the last 6 years, I have dedicated my career to helping children, postpartum mothers, and their families navigate mental health and well-being challenges.

I began my healthcare journey as a registered nurse in the fast-paced world of pediatric emergency care. Working on the front lines of healthcare, I witnessed firsthand the unique mental health challenges faced by the youngest members of our community. It became evident to me that the pediatric and young adult population were grappling with significant mental health disparities. This eye-opening experience ignited a passion within me to bridge this gap in care.

As I transitioned into my next role as a Family Nurse Practitioner, I observed firsthand how mental health directly impacts physical well-being. I also saw the significant emotional toll that postpartum depression and anxiety take on mothers and families. The scarcity of mental health resources in my area, particularly for new mothers, frustrated me. This frustration led me to gain my certification as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, allowing me to become the resource I wished existed for patients. Mental health always held a special place in my heart, and I am passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding it.

I have always sought to incorporate integrative care into my practice, yet the constraints of short appointment times left me unsatisfied. I am now able to create a service where patients—including postpartum mothers—feel seen and heard from the moment they step into their first appointment. I want to build deep relationships with my patients, understanding their beliefs, fears, and cultural backgrounds to create the best individualized plans. I aim to offer more options than the typical "wait 4-6 weeks for the medication to work" approach. My goal is to rebuild patients' faith and trust in mental health care by reshaping what mental health treatment looks like for children, families, and postpartum mothers.

Imagine a mental health provider who feels like a trusted friend, offering not just expertise but genuine empathy and understanding. A provider that listens attentively, validating your experiences and empowering you to explore your emotions in a safe space. One who offers practical strategies tailored to your unique needs, guiding you towards greater self-awareness and emotional well-being.

That provider is me!! With a warm smile and a reassuring presence, I will be the beacon of support you need as you journey to mental wellness.

As a PMHNP, I have specialized training in mental health care. I am licensed to assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with mental health disorders. I can prescribe medications and develop individualized treatment plans using evidenced-based practices. I can also provide therapy and collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
